Richard Linklater AND Ethan Hawke they have collaborated together on several film projects throughout their careers, including Before sunrise, Newton’s boys, Waking life, Childhoodand more. Now they have a new “secret thing” they’re working on together.
In an interview with Interview Magazine, Linklater was asked about this “secret thing” they were working on and he confirmed that he and Hawke were working on the mystery project just last week. The director added: “I’m always working on some stuff, so I don’t really know. It doesn’t matter if they are secret, no one cares.
Well, I’m sure Linklater and Hawke fans will care! We have no idea what the project will ultimately be. The two tend to tell little stories together, so whatever this project is, I’m sure it will turn out good.
Linklater’s next film project is Hitman, recently sold to Netflix for $20 million. The film is a true-crime comedy starring Top Gun: nonconformist‘S Glen Powell.
Hit Man follows Powell as Gary Johnson, “a part-time teacher who works as a mysterious gunman for hire. But there’s a problem with hiring him to free a cheating spouse or abusive boss: He works for the police. When he breaks protocol to help a desperate woman (Adria Arjona) trying to escape from an abusive husband, he finds himself becoming one of his false personas, falling in love with the woman and flirting with becoming a criminal himself.
Hawke’s most recent project is Leave the world behindin which he stars alongside Julia Roberts. In the film, “Amanda and her husband Clay rent a luxurious home for the weekend with their children, Archie and Rose. Their vacation is soon turned upside down when two strangers, GH and his daughter Ruth, arrive at night, bringing news of a mysterious cyber attack and seeking refuge in the house they claim is theirs. The two families grapple with a looming disaster that grows more terrifying by the minute, forcing everyone to grapple with their place in a collapsing world.
