Box office projections for the next Marvel Studios film The wonders they came in and they’re not doing well. According to Box Office Pro, the film is expected to gross between $50 and $75, which is significantly lower than 2019’s Captain Marvel.
The wonders it’s looking to make between $121 million and $189 million, and I imagine it will be on the low end of those projections. As for the film’s current pre-sales, they are 69% behind. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and 42% behind Eternals.
I don’t think anyone is surprised by this with the current state of superhero and comic book movies. I’ve always said that if Marvel continued to produce good quality stories, the fans and I would continue to show up to watch them. But the overall quality of the projects has decreased in various ways and people are starting to lose interest.
If you want people to keep coming to watch your films, you need to give them good quality films and narratives.
The Marvels was made on a budget of $273 million, which is ridiculous for this movie. After all the marketing dollars invested in the film, it is estimated that the film will only succeed if it grosses $680 million worldwide. I seriously doubt this will happen.
