Shawn Levy says Taylor Swift has “the makings of a hell of a director” and compares her to Steven Spielberg

Director Shawn Levy he is best known for directing hit films such as just MarriedTHE Night at the Museum movie, Date night, Real steel, Free boyepisodes of Stranger thingsand the next Marvel movie, Deadpool 3. But before becoming a successful director, he acted in many films and TV series, and in recent years he has also appeared in small roles, including a background role in Stranger thingsas well as Taylor Swift’s music video All too good: the short filmin which he plays “Her Dad”.

Levy came away from that experience with some incredible things to say about Swift’s directing ability, telling Entertainment Weekly, “Taylor hasn’t consulted me about upcoming directing projects, but I think she has what it takes to be a director hellish.”

He continued:

“Spielberg was on the set of a movie he produced and I directed called Real Steel, and I asked him, ‘How do you know it’s the right shot?’ Her response was, “The way you see it, that makes it right.” I think that’s something that Taylor Swift understood really well, because it’s about trusting your instincts.

This is truly incredible praise! Perhaps the biggest pop star in the world will find her way into the director’s chair. Swift has not yet directed a feature film, but in 2022 it was reported that she is developing her directorial debut for Searchlight Pictures with an original screenplay she wrote. There were also rumors for the last year that Swift would appear in Levy’s Deadpool 3, but nothing has been confirmed.
