THUNDERCATS is getting a new comic book series from Warner Bros. and Dynamite

Dynamite and Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products have announced that they are teaming up to publish a range of comics and graphic novels inspired by some of Warner’s most popular franchises and characters.

The first thing they will release as part of the partnership is a ThunderCats comic series, which comes from the writer Declan Shalvey (Alien, Deadpool vs. Old Man Logan, Old Dog) and will be joined by the fan-favorite artist Drew Moss (Gargoyles: Dark Ages, Vampirella/Red Sonja, Copperhead) and literal Jeff Eckleberry.

THE ThunderCats The series “aims to be a refreshing yet timeless take on classic myths and characters, leveraging Shalvey’s ability to weave complex narratives alongside Moss’s striking imagery. The initial storyline is currently planned to delve into the early days on Third Earth, the world the ThunderCats are forced to survive in after escaping their original home. Partly an origins approach, the title will explore untold stories and new challenges for Lion-O, Cheetara and the rest of the group.

It is explained that “Shalvey will dig deeper into the characters’ iconic relationships and push the basics of science fiction further, while Moss is set to portray Third Earth’s beautiful environments and visually engaging action scenes. With Lion-O at the center, following his journey to becoming a worthy leader, the team will work together, combining their different talents, attitudes, and learning the magical power of the Eye of Thundera. But will they be able to achieve these goals and grow, with the eyes of Mumm-Ra the Ever-Living trained on them? With the franchise’s signature blend of action, drama and touches of science fiction, fans won’t want to miss this completely new approach.”

While fans have been waiting for a ThunderCats movie for years, this comic, which sounds great, will have to help us out.

Other comics that will be developed include The Flintstones, The Powerpuff Girls, Space ghost, Johnny Quest, The Wizard of Oz, We Bare Bearsand more.

Nick BarrucciCEO and publisher of Dynamite, said in a statement: “Warner Bros. has been at the center of entertainment in America and around the world for an incredible hundred years, and home to so many beloved stories and franchises. We are incredibly excited to bring many of them back with the biggest and most passionate fanbases to comics or for the first time, while working with WBD and wonderful creators to bring completely new stories to fans!”
