First look at MR photos. MONK’S LAST CASE: A FILM ABOUT MONK

Thanks to Entertainment Weekly, we have a series of sneak peek photos to share with you Tony Shalhoubit is imminent Monk revival films, Mr. Monk’s latest case.

In the story, “When Molly’s boyfriend is murdered, Monk dedicates himself to solving the case, throwing himself once again into a mystery with a deeply personal connection to his own life.” Creator Andy Breckmann offered some additional information on the story, saying:

“When people ask me what the original series was about, I always say it was about loss. Monk was dealing with the loss of his beloved wife, Trudy. And that, of course, we resolved in the series finale. But the movie presents Monk with an equally exciting challenge to step up and face. We’ve found a way to raise the stakes for this poor kid once again.”

When talking about other elements of the film, it’s explained that Monk spent a few months at the height of the pandemic wearing a hazmat suit. Breckman jokes, “There are one or two mini flashbacks in the movie,” and one of them will be a pandemic flashback.

The film also introduces a new villain, Rick Eden (James Purefoy), described as “a selfish billionaire obsessed with becoming the first civilian to orbit the Earth. If this looks a lot like some contemporary figures, that’s by design.

Breckman talks about Monk going up against this new enemy, saying, “The best stories are the ones where Monk goes up against someone very, very powerful, very strong, and very contemptuous of him, someone who underestimates Monk from the start. In In this world, there’s no one more powerful than these Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos characters. In this case, James Purefoy’s character is building a rocket. He’s sending himself into space.”

Monk isn’t the only character returning to the film as photos confirm we’ll be seeing Leland Stottlemeyer (Ted Levine), Randy Disher (Jason Gray Stanford) and Natalie Teeger (Traylor Howard). They’re all back!
