Netflix’s live-action adaptation A piece it certainly struck a chord with audiences, and it seems like everyone who saw the show loved what it offered. This is only the first part of a great and epic adventure that awaits us, but A piece showrunner and writer Matt Owens already hopes to further enrich the world of Luffy and company with some live-action spin-offs.
During an AMA session on Reddit, Owens was asked if he would like to further enrich the world of anime through spin-offs. This is obviously an opportunity that he would love to have and he already has in mind a spin-off centered on the character Mihawk, who is the greatest swordsman in the world. He said:
“I would love for it to be that way! There are so many stories we have yet to fully immerse ourselves in. I would love to do a Mihawk series for young people. See his rise in the world, interact with other notable figures from the past.”
The world of A piece it’s so great, and the manga and anime are still going strong. There are so many different characters and stories to play with and there’s definitely plenty of room for all kinds of spin-offs! But, if they ultimately decide to go this route, the creative team will have to keep the quality of character development and story at the same level as the flagship One Piece series.
As for a spin-off that explores Mihawk… hell yes! He’s a great character to dive into more! I would be careful!
Which character would you like to see get a live-action spinoff?
