Fan-made animated pilot and adaptation of the 1940s comic THE SENSATIONAL CAT-MAN

The obscure 1940s comic Cat-Man is looking to make a comeback as an animated project thanks to a YouTuber Austin McConnell. She spent a year developing an animated pilot for The Sensational Cat-Man, which you can watch in full below.

Cat-Man was created by the artist Irwin Hasen and the character of Kitten Charles M. Quinlan. Cat-Man aka David Merrywether “was raised in Burma by a tiger after his parents were killed. Living for years with tigers, he gained superhuman abilities, such as super strength, enhanced agility, natural night vision and the cats’ legendary “nine lives”.

David eventually returned to the United States “where he was horrified by criminals preying on innocents. To stop this, he became a private investigator. He would later become an officer in the US Army. Assigned to duties in the United States, he donned an olive and orange costume with a black cat head symbol and became Cat-Man.

Cat-Man is now in the public domain, so McConnell decided to have some fun with it. He hopes his web-based animated series will bring new life to this classic character, while paying homage to his history in the comics.

McConnell’s grand plan is to create a cinematic universe populated by public domain superheroes. Check out the pilot below along with a behind-the-scenes video.
