Marvel Comics is developing a KID VENOM series with acclaimed manga artist Taigami

Cullen Bunn AND Gerardo Sandoval’S Death of the Venomverse the limited series concluded last week. The five-issue series followed Carnage as he wreaked havoc across the multiverse and forced the other symbiotes to come out and try to stop him.

There was a backup story in the series by the acclaimed manga artist Taigami which introduced Kid Venom. That character will now star in his own comic book series Kid Venom: Origins #1, which is a new one-shot and sets up future adventures for the young symbiote.

Kid Venom is a young man named Kintaro. Originally from 10th century Japan, he bonded with the Clinter symbiote to protect his village from attack. This could end up being the next big popular Marvel Comics character.

Kid Venom: Origins #1 will be a collection of all four chapters of Kid Venom’s story from Death of the Venomverse and will include behind-the-scenes content, including the original work that led to Taigami landing the Marvel role.

Taigami explains how he created the character, saying, “Kid Venom was based on a one-shot I submitted for a Shonen Magazine and Marvel manga contest held in 2018. One of the rules of the contest was [to use a theme or a character from Marvel and write and draw a first episode for a new series] and the theme I chose was the symbiote.”

Speaking about the continuing adventures of Kid Venom, Taigami said: “The story I had the chance to work on this time is only a small part of Kintaro and the symbiote in the Heian era. How did Kintaro come to be and what will happen to him? And how will that world and the modern world be connected? I hope I can enjoy working deeply on that story. And I hope my story becomes a starting point for people to learn about and be interested in Japanese legends and cultures for people all over the world. world.”

Kid Venom: Origins #1 will be published by Marvel on January 3, 2024.
