Studio Ghibli reveals the brand new poster for Hayao Miyazaki’s latest film, THE BOY AND THE HERON

A new poster promoting the beloved director has been released Hayao Miyazakithe next movie, The boy and the heron.

The story of the highly anticipated film follows the life of a young boy, Mahito Maki (voiced by Soma Santoki), who unfortunately lost his mother during an air raid during the Second World War. Shortly thereafter, the grieving boy and his father leave Tokyo to reside in the countryside. There, young Mahito sees his father marry his mother’s younger sister, Natsuko (Yoshino Kimura). While recovering from an injury in his new home, he discovers a mysterious heron (Masaki Suda), who can speak. The creature tells Mahinto that his mother is still alive in a mysterious tower on the property. What follows for Mahito is a surreal and magical journey to reunite with his mother.

The boy and the heron will mark Miyazaki’s first project since 2013 The wind picks up.

The film features the voices of Soma Santoki, Masaki Suda (The stagnation), singer AimyonYoshino Kimura (Confessions), Shohei Hino (As long as we both live), Ko Shibasaki (47 Ronin), Takuya Kimura (Howl’s Moving Castle) and more.
