In the turmoil that caused the change of hands at DC studios, fans waited for the dust to settle as we slowly got information on James Gunn AND Pietro Safran’s film and television plans are moving forward. One thing that was left up in the air was the casting of new projects and whether or not we’ll see returning stars integrated into the new films. But Gunn confirmed three of the DC actors who will definitely return to their roles.
In a recent X post, Gunn said that the new extended DCEU canon will return Xolo Maridueña in the role of Blue Beetle, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, e John Cena as a peacemaker.
Gunn is pretty good at answering fan questions, but he also made it clear that he can’t reveal everything right now, with a recent post on Threads, saying:
“Nothing will be canon until Creature Commandos next year – a sort of appetizer to the DCU – and then a deeper dive into the universe with Superman: Legacy,” Gunn clarified. “It’s a very human drive to want to understand everything all the time, but I think it’s okay to be confused about what’s happening in the DCU since no one has seen anything of the DCU yet.”
