Adventure calls us in the new trailer for the animated short film PETER AND THE WOLF by Bono

Max has released a new trailer for Bono’s animated short film project Peter and the wolf, which offers a unique adaptation of the classic story. The short film features music and narration by Gavin Fridayand the artwork is based on original illustrations created by Good.

The animated adaptation of Sergei Prokofiev’S Peter and the wolf transforms into an enchanting and contemporary visual masterpiece that touches on themes of growth, loss, courage, transformation and our relationship with nature.

The project description reads: “Be careful, for wolves come in many disguises… Based on Sergei Prokofiev’s symphony.” After hearing stories of a wolf on the loose, Peter decides to explore the vast meadow and forest nearby to try to find the wolf himself. Along the way he encounters creatures who aid him in his search for him while he struggles with hunters trying to capture the wolf.

Gavin Friday and Bono said in a statement: “The messages of vigilance, courage and resilience that were at the heart of the original symphony still resonate throughout our interpretation, but we transform a traditional fairy tale into a unique adaptation that also incorporates the theme of loss , redemption and recovery. Our hope is that this Peter & the Wolf will become a balm for any child facing loss, as well as exposing and captivating them to Prokofiev’s wonderful musical world.”

The project was originally developed way back in 2003 in support of the Irish Hospice Foundation (IHF), a national charity which supports those facing death, dying and bereavement. After all these years the project was completed.

Peter and the wolf is co-directed by the animation filmmakers Stephen McNally and Elliot Dear (director of the Netflix short “All Through the House.” Love Death + Robot series). Peter and the wolf will stream on Max starting October 19, 2023.
