Invincible Season 2 will return to Prime Video later this fall and fans are very excited to see how the story continues to unfold. At the end of the first season, Omni-Man beats his son Mark to death before leaving Earth. In the comics, it actually takes a long time before we see Omni-Man return to the story, but Robert Kirkmann teases Omni-Man’s return in season 2, so it could happen sooner than expected.
During a recent interview with IGN. Kirkman was asked about Omni-Man’s return and talked about what fans can expect without revealing any of the big details. He said:
“The less said about Nolan, I think the better at this point. I’m just saying, I wouldn’t bet on us going the whole season without seeing him. He’ll probably pop up when you least expect him, and he might show up in ways that you wouldn’t necessarily expect. So , I think I’ve said all I can say.”
It will be interesting to see how exactly Kirkman and the creative team end up implementing Omni-Man into Invincible season 2. They’re changing things up a bit, which is fine with me because he’ll keep fans who read the comic on their toes.
One thing is for sure: the relationship between father and son in the story is quite an epic saga and there is still a lot of story to tell. Kirkman has already spoken about his overall goals for the series and in the meantime has revealed the number of planned seasons he wants the show to run to tell his story. He explained:
“I’m trying not to reduce it to a number, because it’s kind of a moving target. I think seven to eight seasons seems to be enough. But there may be some things that we advance a little faster, some things that we expand. If we’re lucky enough to last long, I think it would be enough to cover the entire comic. And there are some things along the way that didn’t make it into the comic that I’d like to do. I think it would be nice to have a few episodes here and there that are completely original. So that’s part of the plan moving forward.
Invincible revolves around seventeen-year-old Mark Grayson (Steven Yeun), who is just like every other boy his age, except his father is the most powerful superhero on the planet, Omni-Man (JK Simmons). The season 1 finale was crazy as it ended with the reveal of Omni-Man’s true twisted intentions. I’m excited to see how the story continues to unfold in Season 2!
The series is also the protagonist Sandra Oh, Zazie Beetz, Gillian Jacobs, Zechariah Quintus, Jason Mantzoukas, Melise, Marco Hamill, Mahershala Ali, Seth Rogenand more.
The second season of Invincible will arrive on Amazon Prime on November 3 this year.
