Director Tim Burton he has already made it clear that he went back to basics during the making Beetle juice 2, previously saying: “I tried to strip everything back and get back to the basics of working with good people, actors and puppets. It was kind of like going back to why I liked making films.” Now his director of photography for the film, Haris Zambarloukosis teasing the same sentiment about the film, telling Collider:
“Yes, we are definitely shooting things on camera and for real. It’s part of the charm of him. I mean, he’s a great director in that respect. He is a visionary and very classic director at the same time. We did a lot of this in Haunting in Venice too. What you see in the film is largely in-camera. So yeah, I think I’ve enjoyed that aspect of directing the last two films I’ve made. I think I enjoyed relying on hands-on techniques immensely. I think you get a very, very different kind of performance from actors when things are done in front of the camera, and I think you get a very different audience reaction from camera effects. These things, for example, are much more important than whether something is digital or analog. It’s the authenticity of the experience, I think, that is often the most impactful aspect of cinema.”
I think it has an impact on the actors’ performances and the whole atmosphere of the film. It’s going to be really fun to go back to that world that we all love so much from the first movie, and it’s so cool that it’s going to have the same feel.
Movie stars Michael Keatonwho returns to play the role of Ghost with the Most, Winona Ryder as Lydia Deetz, Jenna Ortega like his daughter, Catherine O’Hara as Delia Deetz, Justin Theroux (Leftovers), AND Monica Bellucci (Irreversible, Spectrum, The apartment) as Beetlejuice’s wife in the story. Willem Dafoe he’s also in the movie and plays a ghoulish law enforcement officer in Neitherworld.
Beetle juice 2 will be released in theaters on September 6, 2024.
