Chevy Chase says COMMUNITY “wasn’t fun enough” and he didn’t want to be “surrounded by…those people”

It’s not a secret Chevy Chase has a reputation for being a difficult character to work with, and it looks like it’s his time on the hit sitcom Community it wasn’t pleasant because he had problems with the creator of the series Dan Harmon. During a recent interview on Mark Maron’s WTF podcast, Chase talked about his time there Community, and he’s pretty blunt with his thoughts saying he didn’t think the show was funny enough for him. He said:

“I honestly felt like the show wasn’t funny enough for me in the end. I felt a little forced. They all had their parts and I thought they were all good. It just wasn’t hard enough for me.

He went on to talk about his character, Pierce Hawthorn, and even though he liked the character, he didn’t like being surrounded by “those people”. He said:

“I didn’t care about the character. I just felt that he was… I felt happier being alone. I just didn’t want to be surrounded by that table, every day, with those people. It was too much.”

Chase was on the series for four seasons before leaving, and when previously asked about accusations about how he was an idiot while working on the show, he told CBS Sunday Morning:

“I guess you should ask them. I do not care! I am who I am. And I like where… who I am. I am not interested. And it’s a part of me that doesn’t interest me. And I thought about it a lot. And I don’t know what to tell you, man. I just don’t care.

One of Chase’s most talked about and controversial outbursts on the set of the series involved him using the N-word during a heated argument with Harmon regarding his character. As you can imagine, the outburst shocked the cast.

Chase and Harmon haven’t seen each other since he left the show. Speaking about his relationship with Harmon, she said: “I have no idea if we’re okay. I’ve never been sick. He’s kind of pissed off.”
