I have a proof of concept trailer here that you can watch today for a darker take Casperand in this version he’s not quite the “friendly ghost” we remember.
The trailer comes from the director Jared Pelletier, which is distributing it to studios in hopes that someone will sketch out the idea for a scary Casper movie. He describes this project as “a reimagining of Casper” and a “high-concept horror film.”
As you’ll see, the concept has the same kind of vibe we see in horror films released by A24. The trailer was edited using archival footage, and Michael Chwastiak was the guy who did Casper’s voiceover and co-wrote the trailer with Pelletier.
Good enough to just use stock footage! It definitely captures an eerie atmosphere. The question is… does the world need a nightmare Casper movie? Would you watch it?
