Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Eve Hewson song from the film FLORA AND SON by John Carney

Lakeshore Records has released a song from the soundtrack of the wonderful original film coming soon to Apple TV+ Flora and son. The song is titled “Meet In the Middle” and is performed by the film’s stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt AND Eva Hewson. It’s a beautifully written and performed song, and comes at one of the most emotional moments in the film. I love that director’s music John Carney (Once upon a time, Sing Street). incorporates into his films!

In the film, “Single mom Flora (Hewson) doesn’t know what to do with her rebellious teenage son, Max (Oren Kinlan). Encouraged by the police to find a hobby for Max, Flora tries to occupy him with a beat-up acoustic guitar. With the help of a washed-up Los Angeles musician (Gordon-Levitt), Flora and Max discover the transformative power of music.

The film’s story explores “the bond between a mother and son on a journey towards a new harmony”. As I said in my review: “I’m a huge fan of Carney and his past films, and like those, this one is pure magic that tells a beautiful, funny story about an exuberant young mother living in Dublin, Ireland, who is co-parenting his troublemaker son.He is at a crossroads in his life, and it is at this point that he finds a guitar, fixes it, and embarks on an inspiring journey of growth and improvement.

The film’s full album will be released digitally on September 15, days before the film arrives in theaters on September 22 and on Apple TV+ on September 29.discovery of the elves.
