Kirsten Lepore has brought much joy to Marvel fans of all ages with its short series I am Groot onDisney+. The minisode series is a lot of fun and features the kid version of Groot getting into all sorts of trouble. My favorite is when he jumps in a mud bath and he grows tons of sprouts that look like hair, and he sports all these different looks. Baby Groot is the cutest and Lepore is ready to continue the success of the series with other little characters.
The director recently told ComicBook:
“My brain, of course, goes to the Guardians first. What would a Rocket be like? You know the stories of the little raccoons?”
She continued:
“I could see them do it with any character. If [there was] any way we can make babies, but for the Avengers (laughs).”
Regardless of what the future holds for Marvel Studios’ digital shorts, Lepore emphasized that Groot is the perfect character to thrive in space thanks to a seamless transition from his theatrical animation to his streaming form.
“Although Groot fits really well because he works perfectly in the animated space. I think that was important for them. After all it’s all animated, even if it looks like photorealistic CG taken from the world of the Guardians. It was nice to be able to make that style that really looks realistic. At the end of the day, he’s a totally animated character. So it really made sense.”
