Dark and sinister trailer for THE FALL OF THE HOUSE USHER by Mike Flanagan

Netflix has released a full trailer for the writer and director Mike FlanaganIt’s the highly anticipated series The Fall of House Usher, and it looks like this series is going to be amazing! I like the dark, mysterious and sinister tone it has and it looks like it will introduce us to a collection of interesting and colorful characters. I’ve included details on each of these characters which you can read about below the trailer.

The series is described as an epic tale of greed, horror and tragedy. Poe’s tale The Fall of House Usher, which serves as the basis for the show, features themes of madness, family, isolation and identity. Edgar Allan Poe’s modern retelling of the story also draws inspiration from other works by Poe.

It seems that the series will offer a rather disturbing yet playful story. There will also be a lot of crazy, nightmarish and macabre images. I love it!

The series synopsis reads: “In this wicked 8-episode limited series based on the works of Edgar Allan Poe, ruthless siblings Roderick and Madeline Usher have transformed Fortunato Pharmaceuticals into an empire of wealth, privilege and power. But secrets from the past come to light when the heirs of the Usher dynasty begin dying at the hands of a mysterious woman from their youth.

The ensemble cast includes Carla Gugino (Gerald’s Game, The Haunting of Hill House), Mary McDonnell (Screams 4), Carl Lumbly (Doctor Sleep), AND Marco Hamill. Gugino previously joked that the series “is crazy in the best way possible. It has a lot of very dark humor, but it also really touches the soul. Now we have a little taste of what he’s talking about in this recently released trailer.

The series is also the protagonist Michael Trucco, T’Nia Miller, Paola Nuñez, Henry Thomas, Kyleigh Curran, Samantha Sloyan, Rahul Kohli, Kate Siegel, Sauriyan Sapkota, Zach Gilford, Willa Fitzgerald, Katie Parker, Malcolm Goodwin, Crystal Balint, Aya Furukawa, Daniel Jun, Matt Biedel, Ruth Codd, Annabeth Gish, Igby Rigney AND Robert Longstreet.

Mike Flanagan AND Michele Fimognari each directed four episodes of the series. Netflix announced that the series will premiere on October 12, 2023. Enjoy the trailer!

• Roderick Usher (Bruce Greenwood) is the family patriarch and CEO of Fortunato Pharmaceuticals. He is described as an ambitious and motivated man, who has high expectations of his six children. While he gives them access to every resource imaginable, his fatherly affection isn’t necessarily one of them.

• Madeline Usher (Mary McDonnell) is the mastermind behind Operation Fortunato. If he falters, she recovers. But one downside to all that drive and ambition is the fact that she would leapfrog her brother if she had to, regardless of the love she has for him.

• Verna of Gugino is a shape-shifting demon, who made a pact with the twins Roderick and Madeline when they were younger. Decades later, she returns at the height of Fortunato’s power to massacre the heirs of the Usher fortune.

• Frederick Usher of Thomas is Roderick’s eldest son. Although he is the natural heir to the company, he is described as the least capable person among all his brothers to take over the company.

• Tamerlane Usher of Sloyan is one of Roderick’s sons, who starts his own health and wellness company in an attempt to step out of his father’s shadow.

• T’Nia Miller’s Victorine Lafourcade is Roderick’s out-of-wedlock daughter. She will do everything she can to gain her father’s most coveted approval and affection, even at the expense of her life’s mission of helping people.

• Perry Usher of Sauriyan Sapkota is the youngest of the Usher children. Rather than inventing new medical instruments or running the family empire, he wants to make life one big party.

• Kyliegh Curran’s Lenore Usher is Frederick’s daughter, described as a kind and empathetic young woman.

• Kohli’s Leo Usher is a video game patron and socialite playboy with an intense drug addiction.

• Siegel’s Camille L’Espanaye is described as extremely cunning and prickly. She handles public relations for the Usher family, which has made her an expert at turning bad behavior into good press.

• Annabel Lee of Parker is Roderick’s first wife and the mother of Frederick and Tamerlane. With a loving and trusting nature, she always tried to find the best in Roderick, but this could have blinded her to the dangers looming over her family.

• Carl Lumbly’s C. Auguste Dupin is a brilliant lawyer, determined to take down the Usher family.

• Mark Hamill’s Arthur Pym plays the enigmatic Usher family lawyer, who remains an unfailingly loyal employee and guardian of the Ushers.
