Netflix has released a new trailer for the upcoming animated series Castlevania: Nocturne, and features lots of action-packed footage full of violence and blood. This is a fantastic animated series and it looks like the next chapter will be really badass. I’m so excited for this series to return.
In the series, “The gothic and gory adventures of the Castlevania franchise continue with an exciting new setting and the highest stakes ever. A gripping story of love and loss, Nocturne marks an evolution from the fan-favorite Netflix series Castlevania. It features a never-before-seen origin story of Richter Belmont (gaming icon and one of the franchise’s most beloved characters).”
The series is set hundreds of years after the events of the first series and follows the character of Richter, “a descendant of the Belmont family, popularized in the iconic Symphony of Night and Blood of Rondo Castlevania games.”
Richter is a descendant of vampire slayer Trevor Belmont and wizard Sypha Belnades. The story is set in 1792 and will chronicle his vampire hunting adventures during the French Revolution. Richter will be joined by Maria Renard, another familiar character from the games. She is a powerful magic user with her distant connection to Belmont’s legacy. She appeared alongside Richter as a young girl in Castlevania: Rondo of Blood.
The series comes from the creator Clive Bradley, with Kevin Kolde serving as showrunner. Castlevania: Nocturne is produced by Project 51 Productions with production services provided by Powerhouse Animation.
You can watch current seasons of the anime on Netflix, and the official synopsis reads: “Inspired by the classic video game series, Castlevania is a dark medieval fantasy that follows the last surviving member of the disgraced Belmont clan, trying to save the Eastern Europe from extinction at the hands of Vlad Dracula Tepes himself. Trevor Belmont, embittered and excommunicated, finds himself involved in a battle for the survival of Europe, a region that has brought ruin upon itself by taking away the only thing that his biggest monster loved.
The series will premiere on the streaming service on September 28, 2023.
