Liam Neeson he once again shared his thoughts on Star Wars universe and how Disney and Lucasfilm have treated the franchise. The actor recently appeared on Conan O’Brien needs a friend podcast and when asked if he is often approached by fans for autographs, he said:
“Not always. I mean, it’s a cult favorite. There are so many movies and spin-offs now that I think they’re diluting it, that’s my personal thing. Occasionally there are kids looking for a Star Wars autograph and I don’t want to do autographs at the airport. Oh but it’s not the baby, it’s the grandfather, there he is – or the dad.”
This isn’t the first time Neeson has spoken out about Star Wars franchise in phase of dilution. Previously he had said:
“There are so many Star Wars spin-offs. It’s diluting it from me and it’s taken away the mystery and magic in a weird way.
Also, don’t expect Neeson to show up in another one Star Wars project again. When asked about the possibility of appearing in a spin-off prequel he said:
“No more Star Wars for me. As much as I love the franchise, there are too many now. I’ve lost count, but there are just too many.”
THE Star Wars the universe has expanded with the live shows, but Lucasfilm has had a hard time trying to reboot the cinematic side of things. They have several projects in development now which include James Mangoldthe film about the discovery of the Force, set 25,000 years before the Skywalker Saga. Dave Filoni will continue the era of the Mando-verse with a major event film that will conclude the story he began to tell years ago. There is also the Margaret Ridley Project Rey Skywalker e Taika Waititithe project of. Oh yeah, and how can I forget that Rian Johnson trilogy that everyone keeps saying will come sooner or later?
One thing’s for sure: Neeson’s return as Qui-Gin Jinn was completely wasted Obi-Wan Kenobi series.
