Paramount+ released a trailer for an interesting new Korean earthquake survival thriller series called Deal. The series offers the survival stories of several characters trapped in a collapsed building. To make matters even more interesting, the building is used as an organ trafficking ring, posing as a brothel to attract men. This series looks wild!
Based on Lee Chung-hyun’s award-winning short film of the same name, “this darkly funny, endlessly funny and unpredictable series keeps us guessing what might be around every corner. Each character – buyers, sellers and passers-by – is engaged in a desperate struggle to survive not only the crumbling building, but also the circumstances that brought them there in the first place.
In the series, “Men are lured to a remote hotel under the guise of sexual encounters only to be caught in a trafficking ring where their organs are auctioned off to the highest bidder. After a catastrophic earthquake, the victims, traffickers and buyers are all trapped inside the dilapidated building. Cut off from the outside world, they must fight to survive at any cost.”
The series is the protagonist Jin Sun-kyu, Jun Jong-seo, Chang Ryul, and more. It originally premiered in Korea in October last year on the TVING service. It will also premiere at the 2023 Toronto Film Festival. Paramount+ will release it on October 5, 2023.
