Director Antonio Fuqua is currently in the process of developing his Michael Jackson biopic Michele with Jackson’s nephew Jaafar Jackson set to star. Speaking of Jaafar, the director said he was “stunned” by the “uncanny” resemblance between Jaafar and his uncle.
Jaafar Jackson he is the son of Michael’s brother Jermaine Jacksonand Fuqua praised the actor in an interview with EW:
“It’s amazing how much he looks like Michael. She plays like him, dances like him, sings. It’s really creepy. Graham King, who’s a fantastic producer, found him and pitched him to me and I was blown away.
Fuqua continued on the story they are trying to tell with the film:
“Just to tell the facts as we know them, about the artist, about the man, about the human being. You know, the good, the bad and the ugly.
So, it looks like the film will actually address some of the controversies the King of Pop has been involved in throughout his lifetime. It was previously reported that the film won’t shy away from the controversies of Jackson’s life, highlighting the musical achievements of his career.
The film is said to be “an in-depth portrait of a complicated man who became the King of Pop. It will bring Jackson’s most iconic performances to life as it provides informed insight into the entertainer’s artistic process and personal life.”
The film was developed at Lionsgate with the producer Graham King (Bohemian Rhapsody, Jersey Boys, Tomb Raider). The film was developed with the blessing of Jackson’s legacy and the screenplay was written by John Loganwhich he wrote earlier Gladiator AND The aviator.
