Giancarlo Esposito spoke with James Gunn about joining the DC Cinematic Universe; Who should he play?

Giancarlo Esposito (The Mandalorian, Breakin Bad) is looking to join the DC Cinematic Universe, and the actor recently revealed that he’s met with the CEO of DC Studios James Gunn about a possible role in a film. During a panel at Comic-Con Panama, when the actor was asked if he could appear in a DC film, he said:

“I was talking to James Gunn about possibly starring in a movie, so who knows? It could happen soon.”

If that’s the case, it’s likely that Esposito has met with Gunn about a possible role Superman: Legacy, since that’s the movie he was actively casting before the actors’ strike hit Hollywood. But the actor could also have been talking to Gunn about a role in another future DC project, Esposito obviously didn’t share any details.

The question is, which DCU character would suit the actor? Gunn has yet to sign Lex Luthor and Superman villain Brainiac Superman: Legacy, so it could be one of those characters. But what other characters in the DC universe would be a good fit for the actor!?

Esposito is no stranger to DC as he voiced DC villains Ra’s al Ghul and Black Spider in the 2014 animated films Son of Batman AND Batman: Assault on Arkhamand voices Lex Luthor in the animated series for adults harley quinn.

Superman: Legacy will tell the story of “Superman’s journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas. He is the embodiment of truth, justice, and American style, driven by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned.”

The movie stars David Corenswet like superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern, Isabella Mercede such as Hawkgirl, e Edi Gathegi as Michael Holt/Mr. terrifying

Superman: Legacy will launch the film portion of DC Studios’ Gods and Monsters: Part 1. It is scheduled to start in early 2024 and is scheduled for a theatrical release on July 11, 2025.
