Tobin Bell he will return as the assassin of the puzzler John Kramer in the next installment of the Saw series I saw X. The next movie actually looks really interesting since the story is set between the events of Saw I and II.
The story centers on “a sick and desperate John travels to Mexico for a risky, experimental medical procedure in hopes of a miracle cure for his cancer – only to discover the entire operation is a scam to defraud the most vulnerable. The notorious killer returns to his job, turning the tables on the crooks in his signature visceral way through devious, deranged and ingenious traps.
The film is directed by a veteran of the franchise Kevin Greutert and recently shared some additional details about the film and explains that Jigsaw will be in this film more than any other Saw film that has been made. He explained to the Empire:
“Kramer is the center of the story, more so than any other Saw. This is back to a bit more realistic level. I may not have seen Tier I simplicity, but close. The more the public can get the sense that an intelligent engineer – which it is – could figure out what to do with these parts and make it work, the better.”
He went on to explain that the other big change in the franchise is the perspective from the terrified subjects of Kramer’s games to Kramer himself. He said:
“[Saw X] it’s an emotional journey that continues with John Kramer, and less a slaughterhouse that you experience from the point of view of the victims. Obviously there will be people who won’t be able to handle it, but I think it has a good chance of attracting people beyond gore fanatics.
The director goes on to talk about the importance of Tobin Bell in the Saw franchise saying, “They tried to make the last Saw without Tobin and, for me, that was a pretty bold move.” Thus, he focused the film’s focus on the character, which should prove to be a smart move compared to the franchise.
The cast for I saw X also includes Renata Vaca (Midnight family), Paulette Hernandez (Crown of tears), Joshua Okamoto (Control-Z), Octavio Hinojosa (Come and play with me), Synnove Macody Lund (Ragnarok), Steven Marca (The Sandman) AND Michele Beach (dahmer).
Lionsgate will now be released I saw X in theaters September 29, 2023! Enjoy the trailer!
