Briarcliff Entertainment has acquired a new documentary entitled The Lost Weekend: A Love Storycovering the romantic relationship between John Lennon AND May Pang.
In the documentary, May Pang talks about her whirlwind romance with singer John Lennon, when she was just 23, and his assistant. This is a story about Lennon’s life that I didn’t know until now. Things seem to have gotten pretty wild and it’s been a complex time for everyone involved.
The film tells the “true story that took 50 years to tell. It follows John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s personal assistant, May Pang, as they chronicle her 18-month affair with John, an affair orchestrated by Yoko herself. During this extraordinary time, May helped John reunite with his son Julian and was firsthand in his most productive post-Beatles period in which he released albums such as Mind Games, Walls and Bridges and collaborated with powerhouses such as David Bowie and Elton John. With moments with Julian Lennon, Mick Jagger, Alice Cooper and Paul McCartney, May tells all about her from his unique perspective as a 22-year-old experiencing her unforgettable first love.
Pang said, “After 50 years, I finally get to share my story of John and myself through my eyes and my voice. I want to thank Tom Ortenberg for making this a reality for me.
CEO of Briarcliff Tom Ortenberg he added: “As a music lover and true Beatles fan, I am thrilled to partner with Universal Pictures Home Entertainment and this group of incredible filmmakers to share May’s remarkable story with audiences. The Lost Weekend is a story that will resonate deeply with anyone fascinated by the magic of John Lennon and the complexity of human relationships.”
The lost weekend will premiere digitally and Blu-ray on October 13, 2023.
