SPIDER-MAN: FRESHMAN YEAR Writer deals and upbeat update on Marvel’s animated series

Marvel Studios has a new animated series in development titled Spider-Man: freshman year. There haven’t been many updates on the project, but the writer Jeff Trammell he offered a small update and let fans know that production on the project is going smoothly and he’s excited for people to see what they’re working on. Here’s what he shared on his X account:

More details were shared at San Diego Comic-Con last summer during Marvel’s animation panel, where it was revealed that Freshman Year takes place before 2016’s Captain America: Civil War, but with one notable key difference. “Rather than coming home to his apartment to see Tony Stark at his house, it’s none other than Norman Osborn chatting with his Aunt May when he walks in the door. And just as meeting Tony thrust Peter into the spotlight more than the boy needed, Peter having Norman as his mentor “sends his life on an unexpected trajectory that pits him against many unexpected characters in the Marvel Universe.” according to Brad, Marvel’s head of streaming. Winterbaum.”

This is pretty much like a whole “What if…?” story, “What if…Norman Osborn was Peter Parker’s surrogate father?”, and this puts Peter Parker on a collision course with characters from the MCU. Some footage was shared during the event showing Norman’s son Harry, Amadeus Cho and Nico Minoru.

I’m curious about this series and what exactly it will become. It has been confirmed that the show will borrow some elements of Tom Holland’s portrayal of the character, but the core of the show will be self-contained.
