Neill Blomkamp Says He Would Direct His Scrapped Film ROBOCOP RETURNS in the Style of Paul Verhoeven

Beyond that, there was a possibility that Peter Weller would return to reprise his role. During a recent interview with JoBlo, Blomkamp revealed that his plan was to mimic Paul Verhoeven’s directing style. He said:

“It’s the only film I’ve ever made where I’d try to basically simulate Paul Verhoeven’s directing style. I wanted it to feel like it happened the next day. Like if Dick Jones fell out the window on Monday, this would’ve been Tuesday. It literally started the next morning. So it was a direct sequel, in exactly the same style.”

Neumeier had already said:

“I think Neill really wants to make a good RoboCop movie. His idea of ​​him is that he should be the real Verhoeven… if Verhoeven directed a film right after RoboCop… I think that’s what he’s trying to achieve and I hope he succeeds. We’ll see what happens next.”
