Lucy Liu is developing a new VR gaming experience for a project titled The Pirate Queen: A Forgotten Legend, and recently offered some interesting information about it. We also have a teaser trailer to share with you.
The Pirate Queen: A Forgotten Legend is based on the true story of Zheng Yi Sao, “who rose from poverty as a courtesan to become the most powerful pirate in history. At the height of her power, Zheng Yi Sao was thought to command hundreds of ships and numbering between 40,000 and 70,000 men in the early 19th century.
In the game, players must “use wits and strategy to overcome obstacles and unravel its fascinating story. It uses a number of VR game mechanics including exploration, throwing, climbing, boating, fishing and solving environmental puzzles.
Liu is not only a co-executive producer of the game but will also provide her voice for the game. During the Future Games Show presentation at Gamescom, Lui said:
“The fact that it’s a true story and that it was created in this virtual world […] it is quite significant. He is bringing together the old and the new. And also presenting something that is not just a game, but something real and exciting and historical.”
The Pirate Queen: A Forgotten Legend is coming to Meta Quest 2 and Steam in early 2024. Check out the trailer below!
