Director Antonio Fuqua he has made some great films throughout his career Training day and the movie inside The equalizer franchise. Another movie I liked was its 2016 remake The Magnificent Seven. Yes, it wasn’t as good as the original, but it was still an entertaining film that I enjoyed.
Denzel Washington he starred in the film as Chisolm, a man who assembles a group of outlaws to help them defeat a corrupt industrialist’s private army. During a recent interview with CB, Fuqua shared that he thinks there’s more to Chisolm’s story and that he’d love to expand on that story and explore more of the world in a sequel. He said:
“I think, Magnificent Seven, I always wanted that character to have more of a story. I wanted, a bigger story, a story arc with that character, you know? A very nice guy.”
I actually wouldn’t mind! If Fuqua had more than one story to tell with this character, it would be nice for him to have the opportunity to tell it! But that may not happen because there is a series adaptation currently in development at Amazon Studios.
The series project was developed by True detective Creator Nic Pizzolatto, and it’s one of many MGM properties that Amazon is trying to revive. Pizzolatto actually worked on the script of the 2016 film, but I guess this series will be a complete reboot and will not continue the story of the film.
Since the film’s 1960 release there have been three sequels; a television show that aired from 1998 to 2000; and the 2016 big-screen remake.
