If you ever meet Neill Blomkamp and I want to talk about his unpublished works Alien 5 movie, don’t talk about it because he has no interest in discussing it.
During a recent interview with Uproxx, as the interview drew to a close, Blomkamp was asked about alien 5 and some of the production plans that the director has shared for the film. He cut the speech short by saying:
“It’s hard to define how little I care about what happens with Alien.”
As the conversation turned back to his next film Gran Turismo, Blomkamp provided only a few more brief comments before deciding they’d “talked enough.” His publicist then intervened and concluded the interview.
Blomkamp has yet to really feel the pain of that project. I don’t blame him, though. He spent a lot of time developing that film and he succeeded Sigourney Weaver AND Michael Biehn to reprise their roles. Furthermore James Cameron and Weaver both said they loved Blomkamp’s script.
The events of the film would pick up after the events of aliens and ignored the events of Alien 3 AND Alien: Resurrection. Unfortunately, Scott himself said that Blomkamp’s film “would never see the light of day”.
After Blomkamp’s film closed, another one happened Alien 5 the project was in development that he was not a part of and was led by the producer Walter hill. However, that movie never got any momentum.
There is something new Alien movie coming, but it’s not really connected to anything in the stories that Scott and Cameron have been telling. That film comes from the director Faith Alvarez (evil Dead), and is a story of its own in the file Alien universe that follows a “group of young people in a distant world who are confronted with the most terrifying life form in the universe”.
