Henry CavillIt is the moment The witcher the series is over and the next time we see Geralt of Rivia in action, he will be played by Liam Hemsworth. The upcoming fourth season will explain this casting change, we just don’t know exactly how.
In a recent interview with Wyborcza, executive producer Tomek Baginsky teased what we can expect from the fourth season and the change with Geralt. He explains that the story will be inspired by the author Andrzej Sapkowskithe fifth and last novel, Lady of the Lakesaid:
“I’m not talking about specific events, but about the narrative framework introduced in this book. Suddenly, at the beginning of the book, we learn that everything we have read so far may not be true, and this cannot be compared to, for example, the currently popular concept of a multiverse, where many different realities emerge out of nowhere.
With Geralt’s new appearance, fans have been speculating that the show would play with the concept of the multiverse. Previously discussing how Hemsworth’s Geralt will be introduced to the series, producer Baginski said:
“We have a very, very good plan to introduce our new Geralt and our new vision for Geralt with Liam. We won’t go into any depth into those ideas because that would be a huge spoiler, [but] it’s also very, very close to the deeply rooted meta-ideas in the books, especially in book five.”
In the fifth book, Ciri goes through a portal and finds herself in a different world, which is what led fans to speculate that the creative team was planning for Hemsworth’s Geralt to be some sort of variant from another universe. But apparently that won’t be the case. She went on to say:
«I say this: I remember the discussions even during the release of the books. 20 years ago, when the fifth book came out, people were very frustrated. In this context, the world built by Andrzej Sapkowski seems to me one of the most flexible in all of fantasy”.
