Since the end of the third season of Ted Lasso, fans have been wondering where the show will go from here. Star and co-creator Jason Sudeikis he’d said repeatedly that the series had a three-season story to tell, and with his character’s final episode, it seems Ted’s arc is complete. But as much as the finale wrapped up the characters’ stories, it also seemed to leave some avenues open for further exploration.
Director of the final episode Declan Lowney he recently sat down with Above the Line and Lowney was asked if there were any spinoffs in the works. Lui noted that there were “a few hints” in the finale cut, including a hint that Nate, Beard and Roy could be running AFC Richmond.
“The editing has some clues there. Keeley pitches for an AFC Richmond women’s team — great timing — and it would be great for her and Rebecca to lead that team. Maybe they would use Roy as captain? Roy too [want to] stay and captain anyway? And we know that Beard seems destined to stay in the country because his girlfriend is pregnant. So there’s a couple of spinoffs… maybe Nate, Beard and Roy who run AFC Richmond, or the two girls who run the girls’ team? Not sure about Judge McAdoo, but you could do something like this [Judge Judy] called McAdoo’s Court or something like that.
There were a lot of storylines left open in that episode. Heck, I’d be happy to see any of them move forward, as well as a Ted-centric show in the States. I love the writing and the characters on that show so much. Can’t wait to see what they do next. Which spin-off would you like to see the most?
