There is a lot of excitement surrounding Lucasfilm’s next series Star Wars: Ahsoka. Now Dave Filoni offered some new details and insights into the series saying the story is all about “master-apprentice relationships”, and also says there will be plenty of epic lightsaber fights.
This new information comes from a new featurette from IGN, which you can watch below. See Filoni, executive producer Jon Favreaupresident of Lucasfilm Kathleen Kennedy, and more tease what’s to come.
Says Favreau, “It’s just the idea of the apprenticeship. The need for these two groups to come together to pass on knowledge and help save the world, in the case of Star Wars.”
Executive producer Cassie Beck he added, “All that wisdom is passed down through those generations. We have Qui-Gon Jinn, who is Obi-Wan’s teacher, who is Anakin Skywalker’s teacher. And, having been trained by Anakin, Ahsoka is a part of that legacy”.
Filoni then spoke about the lightsaber fights: “There had to be a lot of lightsaber fights, and they had to be good because our fans know the difference. Since the beginning of the series, Ahsoka is out there at the edge of the galaxy. When she hears whispers of this warlord’s return, he decides to ask his friends for help.”
Filoni also remembers how George Luke helped him create the character of Ahsoka Tano and how instrumental he was in making her Anakin Skywalker’s student. She said, “Originally, we didn’t know what The Clone Wars would be. There was a Jedi and there was a Padawan. We thought, “We’ll put them on adventures,” but George had other ideas. He says, “Well, let’s give Anakin Skywalker a Padawan.” I was like, ‘Anakin doesn’t have a Padawan.’ And he looked at me and said, ‘Anakin has a Padawan.’ That’s basically it, that’s how Ahsoka was born.”
Enjoy the new featurette!
The series is set after the fall of the Empire and follows former Jedi Knight Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson) while investigating an emerging threat to a vulnerable galaxy. The show picks up where Star Wars Rebels and the search for Ezra Bridger left off (Eman Esfandi) and Grand Admiral Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen) start.
Sabine (Natasha Liu Bordizzo) joins Ahsoka on her journey, and they will be joined by Hera Syndulla (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), and most likely the droid, Chopper and Zeb will also return. The series is also starring Eman Esfandi like Ezra, Ray Stevenson such as Baylon, e Ivanna Sakhno like ShinHati. Hayden Christensen he is also rumored to return as Anakin Skywalker.
Ahsoka will debut on Disney+ on August 23, 2023.
