A24 is officially moving forward with a sequel to its hit supernatural occult horror film Speak with meand the original directors Danny AND Michael Phillipou, will return and direct the film with Danny Philippou writing the screenplay with Bill Hinzman. The sequel is titled Talk 2 i.
There are no shared details on what the sequel will entail, but I have no doubt that the bloody stuffed hand will find itself being used again. The filmmakers previously revealed that they have already begun work on a sequel.
Talking about a possible sequel, Danny Philippou said, “When we were writing the first movie, we couldn’t help but write scenes for a sequel as well. Our movie bible is so vast. We have this huge mythology bible where we have I broke down every single spirit that the kids connected with, every single rule, every single part of the hand and the story behind it. So I think there’s so much to explore.”
She added, “I’d be so excited to do a sequel, and there’s a hundred different directions you could go. So yeah, oh my gosh, it would be so cool to do a sequel. I would love this opportunity.”
The filmmakers have also already shot a prequel that they are looking to release at some point. That prequel is based on the film’s opening scene and focuses on Duckett, who was a previous victim of the Cursed Hand at the center of the story. Talk To Me begins at a party when a boy named Cole shows up at a house party looking for his brother Duckett. The whole thing doesn’t end well.
Speak with me it centers on a group of teenagers who enjoy and find haste in summoning spirits and being possessed by them. “Spirit summoning has become the latest local party craze, and looking for a distraction on the anniversary of her mother’s death, teenager Mia (Sophie Wilde) is determined to get a piece of the otherworldly action. . When her group of friends gather for another unruly séance with the mysterious embalmed hand that promises a direct line to the spirits, they are unprepared for the consequences of breaking the rules through prolonged contact. As the line between worlds collapses and disturbing supernatural visions increasingly haunt Mia, she scrambles to repair the horrific damage before it is irreversible.
When I saw this movie at Sundance, I knew it was going to be a big hit. I’m happy to see it’s becoming popular and we’ll have a sequel!
