Blumhouse has released the director’s first trailer David Gordon Greenit’s the next horror movie The exorcist: believer, which is the first film in a trilogy. This is a reboot of the classic 1973 film and doubles as a sequel. It looks like this sequel will tell another terrifying tale of demonic possession as two young girls become possessed at the same time.
I remember seeing the first movie when I was about 13, it scared the shit out of me. I will never forget the fear I felt going through my body while watching that movie. I doubt this sequel will match that fear, but it looks like a good film that will tell a terrifying and chilling story.
Here is the synopsis of the film:
Since the death of his pregnant wife in a Haiti earthquake 12 years ago, Victor Fielding (Leslie Odom, Jr.; One Night in Miami, Hamilton) raised their daughter, Angela (Lydia JewettGood Girls) alone.
But when Angela and her friend Katherine (Olivia Mark), disappear into the woods, only to return three days later with no memory of what happened to them, sets off a chain of events that will force Victor to confront the nadir of evil and, in his terror and despair, seek out the only person alive who has witnessed something like this before: Chris MacNeil.
For the first time since the 1973 film, Elena Burstyn reprises her iconic role as Chris MacNeil, an actress who was forever changed by what happened to her daughter Regan five decades earlier.
The film also stars Ann Dowd (The handmaid’s tale, hereditary) as a neighbor of Victor and Angela, e Jennifer Nettles (Harriet, Gems of the Just) AND Norberto Leo Butz (Fosse/Verdon, Bloodline) as the parents of Katherine, Angela’s friend.
The press release adds: “When The exorcistbased on William Peter Blatty’s bestselling book, it was released, changed culture forever, smashing box office records and earning 10 Academy Award® nominations, becoming the first horror film ever nominated for Best Picture.
David Gordon Green is directing from a script he wrote with Peter Sattler (X-ray of the field). The story comes from Scott Teems (Halloween kills), Danny McBride (Halloween Trilogy) and Green, based on characters created by William Peter Blatti.
Exactly 50 years ago this fall, the most terrifying horror film in history hit screens, shocking audiences around the world. Now, Friday October 13, a new chapter begins. Watch the trailer and tell us what you think!
