Fairytale horror films are all the rage right now in the independent horror film market and today we are taking a first look at the upcoming film The Sleeping Beauty Massacre. As you will see in the images, this will be a gory and grotesque take on the Sleeping Beauty story.
In the film, “Beautiful Princess Thalia is thrown into ruin after her father’s mysterious death. She lives with Prince Edison with whom she is in love but she can no longer marry since she has lost her status. Queen Velma wants the kingdom for herself and will use her dark powers and use of the occult to take over by any means necessary.
Velma plunges Thaila into a deep sleep never to wake up, “until one day she does and her web of lies starts to fall around her. She will be followed by violent twist after twist with gory and graphic deaths.
Safe! Why not! The film will be produced and directed by Louise Warren (The Curse of Cinderella). Jasmine Ebony Thomas wrote the screenplay and is currently filming in Scotland.
Warren said in a statement, “This movie is going to turn everything upside down as you know it. It’s wild, dark, and downright awful. I am setting out to create the most uncomfortable horror experience to date. There will be lies, blood and a great slaughter. If you look back at the source material, there’s just so much to play with.
Star Lora Christova he added, “This movie brought it all back to its gritty roots. There are really horrific and heartbreaking moments. Hristova plays Princess Thalia in the film and plays alongside her Benedict Clarke, Sophia Rankin, Charlotte Colemann AND Yvonne Curwen.
ITN Studios is planning a 2023 release.
