I have here a creepy trailer to watch for a new gothic horror movie titled Mother superior. The film is described as a “gothic fairy tale” and seems to have the same movie vibes as Suspiria AND The Witch.
The film is set in 1975, Rosenkreuz Manor, and the story follows “a young nurse (Isabella Handler) and his eccentric patient are linked by a common desire: the old lady’s memory contains the secret of Sigrun’s past; the young woman’s life force holds the baroness’s key to the future.
The nurse searches for identity and throughout the story becomes entangled in the occult cabal of her patient, Baroness Heidenreich who resides with her devoted gardener, Otto… their dark secrets will soon be revealed.
I really like the atmospheric feel of the film! It has a very chilling tone to it, and it’s the kind of film I think I’d enjoy.
Mother superior is written and directed by Marie Alice Wolfszahn. It already came out in Austria in June and will be released in the US this fall.
