Dan O’Bannonis the classic 1985 film The return of the living dead it was such a funny horror comedy, and when I was a kid, the 1988 sequel The Return of the Living Dead II, it was a movie I watched over and over again. I loved that movie! It didn’t hurt that the movie star, Marsha Dietlein, was my neighbor at that time. He babysat me and my siblings.
Anyway, The return of the living dead is getting the reboot treatment thanks to Living Dead Media, and it’s been explained that the next installment of the The return of the living dead the franchise will be a reboot rather than a remake. The official website shares that the reboot will expand into the existing world.
“Our Return of the Living Dead reboot will expand on the existing world created by the original 5 films, while staying true to the R-rated, sci-fi, horror, dark comedy roots cherished by fans of the cult classic around the world for the past 35 years. ”.
They also note, “We are thrilled to resurrect this legendary franchise for current fans and new generations of zombie fans.” I guess if you’re going to reboot a franchise, building on an already existing world is the way to do it. Steve Wolsh (Muck, kill his goats) is attached to direct the film.
