I’ve been excited about Disney’s upcoming new live-action adaptation Haunted house! The movie looks to be a fun and spooky movie for the whole family, and now the first reactions have come online and the critics seem to be having a good time. It looks like it’s going to be a fun movie that will actually deliver some good scares.
The premiere of the film was recently held at Disneyland and due to the writers’ strike, none of the actors showed up to promote the film. Instead, Disney used theme park actors to walk the red carpet as various Disney characters.
The reactions that have surfaced so far say that the film has a lot of laughs and jump scares; has a big heart; it’s surprisingly creepy; emotionally rich; and that fans of the attraction will love the film. Apparently, it’s chock full of Easter eggs.

The social embargo for The Haunted Mansion has been lifted, so here are my initial thoughts. It’s a lot of fun and filled with tons of easter eggs from the ride. I wasn’t expecting a story about loss and mourning. Fantastic cast and LaKeith is brilliant.

The film is inspired by the classic theme park attraction, and the clip teases some small Easter eggs that I’m sure fans will notice. Haunted house “It’s about a woman and her son who enlist a diverse group of so-called spiritual experts to help rid their home of supernatural squatters.”
The film was directed by Justin Simien. It features an all-star cast of actors including LaKeith Stanfield, Tiffany Haddish, Owen Wilson, Rosario DawsonAND Danny DeVito star, with Jamie Lee Curtis as Mrs. Leota, Winona Ryder, Dan LeviAND Hassan Minhaj will also appear in the new film. Then, there is Jared Letowho is taking on the role of the infamous Hatbox Ghost.
Haunted house hits theaters July 28.
