The MORTAL KOMBAT 2 set photo features Karl Urban as Johnny Cage

Ed Boonthe creator of Mortal combat and the creative director of the next Mortal combat 1 game, recently visited the set of Mortal combat 2. While there, he snapped a photo with Charles Urbanwho plays the role of Johnny Cage in the film.

Cage will be making his big debut in this upcoming film, and Urban is the perfect actor to bring the character to life! This is our first look at Urban on the film set, giving fans an idea of what to expect. We just have to wait a little longer before seeing it in action.

I’ve also included photos Boon took with some of the other actors working on the film, including Lewis Tan like Cole, Chi Han as Shang Tsung, Joe Taslim like subzero, Josh Lawson such as Kano, e Jessica McNamee as Sonya Blade.

I’m a huge fan of the Mortal Kombat franchise, and while I was excited about that 2021 film, it ended up being very disappointing. Simon Mc Quoidwho directed the last film, returned to direct the sequel, and the script comes from Jeremy Slater, who previously worked on Moon Knight and The Umbrella Academy. Previously speaking about the sequel, Slater said:

“I feel like the blood in Mortal Kombat is great and that’s part of what people come for, you always have to find that balance between fun gore and gross gore, right? Because there are moments where you rip someone’s heart out or the best kill in the first movie is Kung Lao’s spinning hat that cuts her in half and that’s the perfect example of fun gore because it’s disgusting but everyone laughs at the same time right? kind of blood spunk and they’re not sitting there kind of grossed out with close ups of dripping visceral bowels and stuff like that.

“There’s a tongue-in-cheek aspect of Mortal Kombat in terms of violence and in terms of gore, there’s a little wink at the audience that goes, ‘Yeah, we know this is ridiculous, but it’s really funny and we’re all d ‘joke agreement together.’ And when you strike that balance, I think that’s where you get moments like that incredibly bloody first battle that opens the first movie with the soundtrack with Hanzo chopping all the assassins apart or you get the gag or something. to emulate those gory moments from the first one that were really, really successful and had huge audience reactions and how can we give the audience even more this time around.”

Mortal combat 2 has yet to set a release date. With Urban on board this film, I really hope the sequel is better than the first film.
