Since his childhood, Anthony Mackie has always been a fan of Black Panther, so it’s no surprise that he aspired to play the iconic Wakandan superhero. In his own words, “I wanted to be Black Panther because I grew up loving Black Panther.However, Mackie’s journey in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has been a little different than he expected.

In the early 2010s, Mackie began sending letters to Marvel Studios expressing his interest in playing Black Panther. He was eager to see the African hero’s story on the big screen and was willing to do everything possible to make it happen. His persistence caught the attention of the studio and he was eventually offered a meeting with top Marvel figures, including producer Nate Moore and brothers Anthony and Joe Russo.

At that meeting, the Russos offered Mackie a role in a film, but didn’t immediately reveal what the character would be. However, whoever pushed to play Black Panther thought his wishes would come true. A few weeks later, he received the surprising news that I would actually play Sam Wilsonalso known as Falcon.

The news that he would become Falcon came as a surprise to Mackie, who originally wanted to play the king of Wakanda. Despite this, he accepted the challenge and left an indelible mark on mcu. Since his debut in the shared universe, Mackie has portrayed Falcon in a number of films, including Ant-Man, Captain America: Civil War and the Avengers.

Most recently, he starred in the Disney+ miniseries titled The Falcon and the Winter Soldier where his character takes on the mantle of Captain America.

‘Captain America: Brave New World’ awaits Mackie

Mackie’s next MCU project is Captain America: Brave New World, a film that will explore what it means to be Captain America and dive into the state of Sam Wilson as the new Captain. For Mackie, directing his own Marvel film is an exciting challenge and a lot of pressure. However, he feels supported by its talented cast, which includes the legendary Harrison Ford.

Ford’s presence on set was initially intimidating for Mackie, who found himself nervous and forgot his lines on the first day of shooting. However, he quickly discovered that Ford was a nice and authentic person and his imposing aura faded. Mackie described Ford as the epitome of a movie star, someone everyone would undoubtedly follow.

Directed by Julius Onah and from a screenplay written by Malcolm Spellman (Falcon creator) and Dalan Musson (series writer), Captain America: Brave New World promises to be an exciting exploration of Sam Wilson’s legacy as the new Captain America . With the combination of talent and passion Anthony Mackie brings to the role, we’re confident the winged hero will continue to captivate fans and make his mark on the MCU.
