Judah Law and producer Christopher Ford recently opened up a bit about the upcoming Lucasfilm Star Wars series Star Wars: Skeleton Crew.
The series has been described as “a galactic take on Amblin’s classic 80s adventure films.” The story will follow four kids from a tiny planet, who end up lost in the Star Wars galaxy and set out on a journey to find their way home.
The film was presented to Lucasfilm as “Goonies In Star Wars,” and it was explained that while the series stars four children, “it is not a show for children.” The adventure they are on is said to be an intense and dark journey.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Ford offered some new details about the series saying it set out to tell a fun adventure story. He said: “Skeleton crewThe tone is an adventure. We wanted it to be a lot of fun. But of course, along with the adventure comes the downside, which is danger. And when children are in danger, it’s even more difficult. So we played with it, but overall we just wanted it to be a fun adventure.”
Ford went on to talk about the tone of the series saying, “I hope it can be for all ages. When we told Kathy Kennedy that we wanted to go with that Amblin tone, which she’s been perfecting over the years, what she said is that they haven’t never thought of those as children’s films. They happen to be about children, the story of a child who goes on an adventure. So it could be for anyone.”
Law was asked about his character in the story, and while he won’t confirm that he’s a Jedi, it’s safe to say he is. Law said, “I can’t tell you much about my character. He’s someone the kids meet in their attempt to get home. He’s like much of the world they experience: adversarial and at times a place of education and other times a place of threat.”
She added, “Because it’s through their eyes, sometimes there’s sort of a silly nature and a silly relationship between the kids and the adults. And then other times it’s really quite dark and quite scary, which I guess is what’s probably it feels like the world. a lot of 11-year-olds like it.”
The children in the series are played by Ravi Cabot-Conyers, Kyriana Kratter, Robert Timothy SmithAND Ryan Kiera Armstrong. Episodes of the show will be directed by Bryce Dallas Howard, The Daniels, David Lowery, Jake SchreierAND Lee Isaac Chung. The Mandalorian’St Jon Favreau AND Dave Filoni will be executive producer.
