Original NATIONAL LAMPOON’S VACATION Star Says He Has A Film Proposal To Reunite Original Cast

One of the funniest things about the National Lampoon Vacation movies is that through movies children always change. The first film kicked off the franchise with Dan Barron AND Anthony Michael Sala as Audrey and Rusty, the children of Clark and Ellen Griswold, played by Chevy Chase AND Beverly D’Angelo. Subsequently, new babies were brought into every film and Chevy Chase’s Clark even makes fun of the running joke in Vacation in Las Vegaswhen he says something about the effect of not even recognizing the kids anymore.

So what if the original stars were brought back? That’s what original Audrey actress Dana Barron is hoping for. She explained to ComicBook that she has a cinematic idea to pitch to the studio to reunite the original stars:

“I have my own talk, but I don’t see it happening at this point. Wouldn’t it be fun for them to be… Rusty and I put them with our little kids – the parents. Just ‘Go and take care of them,'” and they spend the holidays chasing kids, and me and Rusty go to some clubs and play silly for a long weekend. It’s not finished yet, and it’s all about the script. If it’s a really good script, I’m sure it would be considered, but nothing has been written at the moment.”

When asked where the vacation would take place, she replied, “Isn’t Hawaii the standard answer?”

Barron is also currently working on a book titled, Holiday Road: are we there yet?, which will be collecting stories from fans and sharing some of the closest Griswold-like holiday anecdotes it can muster. Would you like to see another one Vacation movie with the original cast reunited? I would absolutely watch it!
