Zazie Beetz has already appeared in two comic films with Deadpool 2 AND Jokerand while she doesn’t want to continue being cast in these kinds of movies, there is one superhero character she would love to play one day… DC’s Catwoman.
During an interview with Inverse, while promoting his episode of Black mirror Season 6, she was asked about her dream roles, and this was her answer:
“I can’t do too many kinds of superhero movies. She’s so iconic, and it’s been done so many times already. I don’t know, she’s just amazing, and I feel like I’m a cat at heart.”
It’s not impossible for Beetz to play Catwoman, Batman has also been played so many times, so it’s not like Catwoman can’t be remade! In fact, I’m pretty confident we’ll see a new Catwoman introduced in James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DC Cinematic Universe. There’s a good chance he’ll appear in director Andy Muschietti’s film Batman: The brave and the boldbut we’ll just have to wait and see who they end up playing the role.
It’s not hard to imagine Beetz in the role and I have no doubt he would do something beautiful and unique in the role. Zoe Kravitz most recently took on the role in Matt Reeves’ The Batman and starred opposite Robert Pattinson.
Beetz is currently set to reprise her role as Sophie Dumond in Joker: Folie à Deux. Just because she’s in that, though, doesn’t mean she can’t appear as Catwoman because that movie is set in a completely separate universe.
