While we wait to continue our fantasy adventure with Geralt (Henry Cavill), Yennefer (Anya Chalotra), and Ciri (Freya Allan) into The sorcerer Season 3, a couple of executive producers discuss Cavill’s final season as Geralt and tease the plan to introduce his replacement, Liam Hemsworth. Talking about Cavill’s final season and the last two episodes, Steve Gaub She said:
“It’s a very strong season for Henry, a great final run for him as Geralt. I think the most important thing for us was to make sure he was very proud of those last few [scenes]invariably those final moments are where you leave an audience with, and those final couple episodes are very strong episodes for him.
He went on to say that Cavill is “walking off with his head held high and passing the reins like so many franchises end up doing, passing a title character from one actor to another, and we’ll be in great hands with Liam.”
I’m still not convinced about Hemsworth because he’s just such a big downgrade from Cavill. I mean, they had Henry Cavill! Then they lost it. But now Cavill won’t be fighting the creative team to make sure the series stays true to the novels. The series will suffer, though.
Executive producer Tomek Baginski also teased how Hemsworth will take over the reins of the White Wolf in season four, saying:
“We have a very, very good plan to introduce our new Geralt and our new vision of Geralt with Liam. Don’t elaborate on these ideas because this would be a huge spoiler. [but] it’s also very, very close to the meta-ideas that are deeply rooted in the books, especially in book five.”
If you haven’t read the fifth book in the series by Andrzej Sapkowski… Spoilers… sees Ciri go through a portal and find herself in a different world. So maybe they’re planning for Hemsworth’s Geralt to be some kind of variant from another universe. It seems to make more sense, but we’ll see what happens.
In the third season of The Witcher, “while monarchs, wizards and beasts of the continent compete to capture her, Geralt hides Ciri of Cintra, determined to protect his newly reunited family from those who threaten to destroy it. Entrusted with magical training by Ciri, Yennefer leads them to the protected fortress of Aretuza, where he hopes to learn more about her untapped powers; instead, they find they’ve landed on a battlefield of political corruption, dark magic, and betrayal. They have to fight back, put everything on the line or risk being lost forever.
The series is also starring Jodhi May like Calante, Bjorn Hlynur Haraldsson like Eist, Adam Levi like sack of mice, MiaAnna Buring like Tissaia, Mimi Ndiweni like Fringilla, Therica Wilson-Read like Sabrina, Emma Appleton like Renfri, Eamon Farren like Kahir, Joey Batey like Jaskier, Lars Mikkelsen like Stregobor, Royce Pierreson like Istredd, Maciej Musiał like Sir Lazlo, Wilson Radjou-Pujalte such as Dara, e Anna Shaffer like Triss. Newcomers include Robbie Amell (Loading), Meng’er Zhang (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) like Milva, Hugh Skinner (Mamma Mia here we go again!) as Prince Radovid, e Christelle Elwin (Half Badas) Mistletoe.
The series comes from the producer and showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich who has already shared that next season will adapt Andrzej Sapkowski’s Time of Contempt, which is the second novel in the Witcher saga.
The first five episodes of the third season of The Witcher will be released on June 29, while volume 2, including the last three episodes of the season, will be released on July 27. Enjoy the clip!
