“Holy shit!” GameStop’s first stock movie trailer Stupid money has been released and this movie looks pretty awesome! The film tells the crazy story of how a group of amateur investors artificially increased the share value of video game retailer GameStop and pissed off many wealthy stockbrokers.
The film is directed by Craig Gillespie (Me, Tonya, Cruella), and has a fantastic ensemble cast that includes Paul Dano, Seth Rogen, Sebastian StanAND Peter Davidson in leading roles.
Stupid money is “the ultimate David vs. Goliath story, based on the insane true story of ordinary people who upended the script on Wall Street and struck it rich by turning GameStop (yes, the mall video game store) into the hottest company of the world. In the middle of it all is regular guy Keith Gill (Dano), who starts it all by sinking his life savings into the title and posting about it. When his social media posts start exploding, so does his life and that of everyone who follows him. When a stock tip becomes a movement, everyone gets rich, until the billionaires fight back and both sides are turned upside down.
This GameStop thing was absolutely insane, and this movie looks like it’s going to tell the story, and in an incredibly fun way. I’m pretty excited about this!
The film is also the protagonist Nick Offerman, Shailene Woodley, America Ferrera, Dane DeHaan, Vincent D’Onofrio, Clancy Brown, Anthony Ramos, Kate Burton, Christina Brucato, Deniz Akdeniz, Talia Ryder, Myha’la Herrold, Larry Owens AND Rushi Kota.
The film will be released in theaters on October 20.
