AS James Gunn is in the midst of development and casting for Superman: Legacy, speculation has begun as to who should play Batman as a director Andy Muschietti’S Batman: The brave and the bold. That movie is so far away, but fans are already tossing names to play the Caped Crusader, and Supernatural actor Jensen Ackles he is one of them
During a recent appearance at the Jus In Bello Convention in Italy, Ackles addressed the rumors and said he’d like to play the role of Batman, but also joked that it would probably turn out Peter Pascal. He said:
“Um, I don’t know. Even if I knew, I wouldn’t tell you. I mean, could I do that? Safe. I would like to do it? YES. Will I be angry when Pedro Pascal receives it? Yes. God bless you, Peter. You keep killing him, man. Let me know when you post something.
The actor went on to talk about the state of the industry right now, but reiterates that he would love the opportunity if given. He said:
“Look, nobody’s talking about anything right now. There’s a strike going on in the entertainment industry, and until it’s resolved, no one will be talking about anything. Would I accept the idea of playing my favorite superhero of all time? No, I’m fine. Sounds like a lot of work, you know. You have to wear a bat costume and be a superhero. I would like. Sign me up.”
I can’t help but think that Gunn, Safran, and Muschietti have a wish list of actors for Batman, but it’s something we won’t hear about for a long time. I like Eckles, but I’m not sure he has what it takes to play the character on the big screen.
