During last week’s Annecy Film Festival, Adult Swim announced that a new animated series was coming from the makers of King of the Hill, Mike Judge AND Greg Daniels.
The show is titled Common side effects and here’s how Adult Swim describes the upcoming series: “Common side effects follows former high school labmates Marshall and Frances as they begin to unravel a conspiracy involving big pharmaceutical companies and the federal government to suppress knowledge of a rare mushroom that may hold the key to curing all the world’s diseases.
The show was created by Joe Bennett AND Steve Helybut Judge and Daniels are producing the project. Michael Ouwelenthe president of Adult Swim, Cartoon Network and Boomerang had this to say about the upcoming series: “Tonally, this is like nothing else in animation right now, so we knew immediately that Common side effects belonged to Adult Swim. Mike, Greg and the entire team have such deep pedigrees in the world of comedy and animation, and this new series will tackle everything from government corruption to the pharmaceutical industry through their unique and hilarious perspectives.”
Susanna MakkosMax’s Executive Vice President for Adult Swim and Original Programming shared his thoughts on the series, saying, “From the moment we heard the idea of Common side effects we knew it was the perfect tone for our animation brand. The series is based on an inspiring idea that is totally original and brought to life with complicated and extraordinary characters. We can’t wait to bring this special show to the world.”
