Transformers: Rise of the Beasts hit theaters last weekend, and while critics aren’t giving it great reviews, fans seem to be enjoying it. It can’t be an easy feat to create a film of this scale, especially one with a built-in fan base, and films that preceded it, made by other directors.
The director of this film, Steven Caple Jr.known for making The earth AND Creed II, but he didn’t try to do it himself. He brought his vision to the film, all while asking the veteran for help Transformers franchise manager Michael Bay.
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Caple said he reached out to Bay, who made time for the young director despite having his hands full with Ambulance.
“[Michael Bay] he was making Ambulance at the time, but still grabbed the phone and hopped on Zoom. From Monday to Friday, I was preparing the film and on Saturday, Sunday, I was learning a lot from the visual effects supervisor and calls with Michael Bay. He’s been giving hints and tips on how to accomplish certain things, so you definitely need to hit those guys who’ve done it before me. It helps.”
It’s great that, despite his busy schedule, Bay has found the time to help this up-and-coming filmmaker with a franchise he knows a lot about.
