Apple TV+ has renewed its fantastic sci-fi thriller series Silo for the second season. I don’t know if you watched this show or not, but I enjoyed it! It tells a fascinating story that immediately captivated me. It’s also just a well-made show with solid production value and great acting. It’s good to know that the show will continue!
The series is based on Hugh Howey’s trilogy of dystopian novels. Silo tells the story of “the last ten thousand people on earth, their mile-deep home protecting them from the toxic and deadly outside world. However, no one knows when or why the silo was built, and anyone who tries to find out will face fatal consequences.”
After her sheriff breaks a cardinal rule and the residents mysteriously die, engineer Juliette, who is played Rebecca Ferguson, “searches for answers about the murder of a loved one and stumbles upon a mystery that goes much deeper than she ever could have imagined, leading her to discover that if lies don’t kill you, the truth will. She begins to uncover shocking secrets and the truth about the silo.
Matt Cherniss, head of programming for Apple TV+, said in a statement, “It has been extremely fulfilling to see the gripping, atmospheric and beautifully crafted sci-fi epic Silo quickly become Apple’s number one drama series. As audiences around the world have been taken by the mysteries and conspiracies buried in this fascinating underworld, viewership continues to rise and we are so excited for more secrets of the silo to be revealed in Season 2.
The series was created and written by Graham Yost (Band of brothers, justified), and shared, “We can’t wait for audiences around the world to immerse themselves in the epic world we’ve created to bring Hugh Howey’s novels to life. Apple has believed in our vision since day one, and it’s an honor to have the opportunity to dig deeper into this story and unravel the layers to our characters in the Silo.”
Ferguson is joined on the series by a large ensemble cast which includes Common, Harriet Walter, Chinaza Uche, Avi Nash, David Eyelowo, Rashida Jones AND Tim Robbins.
The series is executive produced by Yost, Howey and Ferguson, together Morten Tyldum (In Jacob’s defense, the imitation game) who also directed the first three episodes, Nina Jack, Fred Golan, Remi Aubuchon AND Ingrid Escajeda.
